Privacy policy
This policy explains how Cheddar IT Pty Ltd ("Cheddar IT", "we", "us") handles personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). It applies to information collected through this website and through our service-delivery platforms.
What we collect
- Identity and contact information you give us — name, email, phone, company, role.
- Service-delivery information required to manage your environment — usernames, asset details, ticket history, support call recordings, system telemetry.
- Website usage data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URLs, gathered through standard server logs and privacy-respecting analytics.
- Recruitment information — résumés, work history, references, where you have applied for a role.
How we use it
- To respond to enquiries and quote, deliver, and bill for our services.
- To operate, monitor, secure, and improve the systems we manage on your behalf.
- To meet legal, regulatory, audit, and insurance obligations (including under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme).
- To communicate with you about your account and, with consent, about relevant updates and field notes.
Disclosure
We disclose personal information only to staff, subcontractors, and service providers who need it to deliver our services, and to authorities where required by law. We do not sell personal information. Some of our providers (e.g. Microsoft, AWS) may store data outside Australia; we choose providers with appropriate contractual and security controls and prefer Australian regions for customer data where available.
Security
We hold ISO 27001-aligned controls and align our practice to the ACSC Essential Eight. Access to customer data is logged, role-restricted, and reviewed. Backups are encrypted and immutable. We test our incident-response runbooks at least annually.
Your rights
You may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you, or withdraw a consent you previously gave us, by emailing privacy@cheddarit.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Cookies and tracking
This site uses essential cookies to keep it working and a small set of privacy-respecting analytics cookies to understand which content is useful. We do not use cross-site advertising trackers.
Changes
We update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change.
